This Is The End…For Now
By Terrence Cain

First I want to officially thank Cindy Smith for giving me this wonderful opportunity to write for the Howard College blog page. It has been a great experience for me and I truly appreciate that Cindy has given me this wonderful opportunity to tighten my writing skills for the HC blog page.
This has most definitely been the most challenging semester for me; not to mention the most hectic. Now I don’t want to sound like that’s a bad thing; because it’s not. I didn’t expect it to be easy and I would rather it not be too easy because then what’s the point of being in college if you’re not being challenged, right? I really do feel enriched by this; my second semester at Howard College.
I learned a lot from my professors and I was able to see just what the new generation is like, which I must say I am quite impressed by. There is a kid from my Creative Writing class who is about seventeen named Michael Felder. Mike will be graduating from Howard College this year and going on to the University Of North Texas in Denton. Mike is majoring there in Public Relations, he also happens to be a great poet which is something I am most definitely envious of.
The fact that Michael is so smart that he has been able to graduate from high school and then a junior college, all before turning eighteen, is something that I find very impressive in someone who is as young as he is. I wish I could be as smart as Mike. I mean, wow, if I had that kind of a brain my life would be much easier for sure!
So now I would like to congratulate all the people who are graduating this year at Howard College. I hope that you all are able to go to a university or find a job in your field of study. I know the economy is rough right now, but don’t give up. The opportunities are there; you just have to search for them wherever they may be.
I don’t know if I will be back writing for Howard College in the fall; that’s up to the powers that be. I will, however, be back at Howard College for a third semester. So I hope everyone has a great summer off as I know I will. Lots to do at home, maybe do a little homeward bound travelling to Odessa to visit with family and friends. The main thing for me is to just relax and write some more stories like the one that I submitted to be published on Howard College’s website as soon as everything is solidified to be posted for you all to read. Well this is a farewell, but only for now. See everyone in the fall! This is Howard College’s Blogging Machine, Over & Out!

“The End Is Near”
By Terrence Cain

Well, this is it folks. The semester has official come to an end as of next Thursday for me. I’ve got finals every day next week and lots of cramming into my noodle to do before then. This semester has been one heck of a ride for me. A lot of late night cram sessions, sometimes up till 1, 2, or even 3 am with an 8 am class looming just around the corner. It’s definitely been one of the toughest things I’ve put myself through. One thing though, was it all worth it?
Of course it was all worth it. Yeah, this semester kicked my rear but good and I had many sleepless nights, but it sure does beat working some dead end job that I hate. I made a promise to myself long ago that I would never again be a miserable soul and I plan on keeping that promise. You should think about that yourself while you are in college too.
If you feel like college is just too tough, think how much tougher it could be on you working a job you hate on a salary that doesn’t pay you diddly squat. Of course you don’t have to have a degree to get paid well, but then you’d be working a job in the hot son or cold frigid air with almost no days off on an eighteen hour schedule. Having a degree in a job you want will help you get what you want, so just hold on. It won’t be that much longer until you’re done.
This week was review week so not much I can say about my classes. And yeah, I know something huge happened in the news this week but I’m not going to talk about it because it’s already been done and said exhaustively. All I am going to say is that I’m glad we finally got him after ten long years and I hope that this is a changing point for all our troops abroad and that they’ll be home very soon.
Well that’s all I have to say for this week. Study and do your best on the finals. I’ve got loads to do myself so I will see you all next week for my final post until the fall. This is Howard College’s Blogging Machine, over and out!
